FAQ Answers: Tutorials - Accounts
  1. Managing your Account(s) using cPanel
SemoTech provides you with a comprehensive set of tools and empowers you with full control over your account(s).

The control interface is called "cPanel" and can be accessed from anywhere in the world with just a web browser.

Simply point your broswer to: http://www.[yourdomain]:2082 (where [yourdomain] is the full domain name for your account - like "linkpay.com")

When asked to enter a username and password, use the ones you were given in your welcome email. These are usually the same as the credentials used to login into your account on this site.

You should now be in the cPanel and from here you have full control.

  2. Backing up your entire website and email
Please follow this step-by-step tutorial to safely and securely backup your entire website and email to a file and have it sent to a different computer for safe keeping via FTP ( file transfer protocol ).

In the Control Panel for your domain (http://www.:2082) go to the [Site Management] section and click on [Backup]

Under [Full Backups] click on [Generate/Download a Full Backup]

for [Backup Destination:] select "Remote FTP Server" or "Remote Ftp Server (passive mode)" depending on your FTP server

for [Email Address:] type the email address where you wish to receive notification of progress for this backup operation

for [Remote Server (ftp/scp only):] enter the IP address of fully qualified
domain name ( ftp.somewhere.com ) where you wish the backup to be sent to.

for [Remote User (ftp/scp only):] enter a username that has been setup in your local FTP

for [Remote Password (ftp/scp only):] enter the associated password for the username you've just specified

NOTE: Please remember NOT to do a backup in the HOME DIRECTORY as this is still located on the remote web server and any problems there will cause you to loose both your website and your backup. The FTP server needs to reside on your home or office machine or in a totally different location that has nothing to do with our services.

Now, please verify all the information is correct and press the [Generate Backup] button. An email will be sent to the address you specified once the process is complete. Please check it carefully to ensure that the backup and file transfer were successful.
